Snohomish County can claim at least one Grammy winner this year.
Fiddle master Mark O’Connor, his wife Maggie, his son Forrest and his daughter-in-law Kate Lee — the O’Connor Band — on Sunday won the Grammy award for Best Bluegrass Album for their “Coming Home” on the Rounder Records label.
Their performance for the non-televised portion of the awards ceremony covered the old Osborne Brothers hit, “Ruby, Are You Mad At Your Man?”
Mark O’Connor, the living legend who grew up in the working class town of Mountlake Terrace, was as hot as ever — sawing in breakneck speeds — on his fiddle.
Maggie also played violin, Forrest was on mandolin and Kate sang the tune, which starts off with a protracted and high-pitched “Ruuubbyyyy!”
Other members of the band include guitarist Joe Smart and bassist Geoff Saunders.
Parts of the music video that accompanied the release of “Coming Home” were filmed in Mountlake Terrace and Seattle.

Other nominees for the bluegrass award included Blue Highway, Doyle Lawson &Quicksilver, Laurie Lewis &the Right Hands, and Claire Lynch.
