The 112-foot Lady Washington, designated by the Legislature as the state’s official ship in 2007, has appeared in several movies, including the Disney picture “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” in 2003.
First launched in 1989, the ship is a full-scale reproduction of the original Lady Washington, which became the first American vessel to make landfall on the west coast of North America in 1788 after sailing around South America’s treacherous Cape Horn.
