Attention, pie bakers — specifically those who favor creating pies from scratch.
J. Matheson Kitchen &Gourmet seeks home-baked, all-from-scratch creations for its annual pie-baking contest on Nov. 7.
Pies must be baked in an 8- to 10-inch pan labeled with the contestant’s name and phone number. Creations must be delivered by 1 p.m. Nov. 7 to J. Matheson Kitchen &Gourmet, 2609 Colby Ave., Everett.
Judging runs from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., and pans may be picked up after 2:30 p.m.
Commercial entries will not be accepted; nor may canned fillings, commercial mixes or puddings be used.
Judging will include overall appearance, crust’s flavor and texture, filling’s flavor and consistency, and overall originality, with prizes awarded to the five best entries.
