It is undeniable. Summer is here. Sure it doesn’t officially arrive until June 20th, but the sun is actually making regular appearances and the days are definitely longer. Here at the library, we have another sign of the arrival of summer: the beginning of the summer reading program.
But this year there is a twist. In addition to our popular summer reading program for kids we have a new addition to the summer reading season. Starting today, and running through August 31st, we are proud to announce the beginning of the Adult Summer Reading Challenge here at the Everett Public Library.
So what is this challenge you ask? Check here for all the details but essentially you need to read 7 books by the end of August. You can pick up a reading log at the Reference desk at the Main library and the Evergreen branch. Keep track of your progress and prizes are awarded for the number of books you read. There will also be a grand prize drawing at the end of the program for an Amazon Kindle eReader.
If you want to up your chances for winning the grand prize, or just want to share your thoughts, consider writing a thoughtful review or two for the books you finish reading. In addition to getting an extra entry for the grand prize, the best reviews will be published on this very blog and our companion site at the Everett Herald website.
We are also bringing a stellar line up of programs to the library to encourage you in your reading quest. Many authors, including J.A. Jance, Robin Oliveira, Jess Walter and Mary Daheim, will be coming to the library and talking about their latest works over the course of the summer.
So start a new summer ritual and take up the Adult Reading Challenge at the Everett Public Library.
