Bothell bottleshop and taproom The Hop and Hound is celebrating its first anniversary over the next three days.
Eric Schaffer opened The Hop and Hound, named after Schaffer’s coonhound Charlie, last June to bring good craft beer to downtown Bothell, and has found success. He helped start the Bothell Beer Fest and was appointed to the city of Bothell’s Lodging Tax Advisory Committee, which oversees and reviews how to appropriate funds the city raises through tourism.
Recently The Hop and Hound released its own app on iTunes and Google Play for updates on draft list, events and schedule of food trucks, which are on hand every Friday.
The anniversary celebration kicked off Thursday with the tapping of the official anniversary beer, a bourbon barrel Russian imperial stout called 7 Dog Years, that Schaffer brewed in collaboration with Nate McLaughlin from Justice Brewing.
“It’s an amazing imperial stout that was aged in a used Westland Distillery whiskey barrel that used to be a bourbon barrel in Kentucky before that,” Schaffer said.
The first 25 people each day to order a beer on draft will receive a limited anniversary pint glass.
Here’s a schedule for the anniversary weekend:
June 12: Anniversary beer, 7 Dog Years, bottled beer release; Postdoc Brewing cask beer tapped; food truck, Mr. Gyro’s, will be on hand after 5:30 p.m.
June 13: $1 off pints with Bothell Beer/Wine Walk wristbands; release of new The Hop and Hound T-shirts; food truck, Bread &Butter, will be on hand after 4:30 p.m.
June 14: All-day drink specials; $4 Kill the IPA Keg drafts; $5 glasses of Sunday Funday Sangria.

The Woods opens
Two Beers Brewing and Seattle Cider Company will open their new tasting room, The Woods, 1 p.m. June 13 at 4660 Ohio Ave S., Seattle. The shared tasting room is more than double the size of the previous tasting room and features an expanded draft list of beers and ciders. The Woods grand opening party is from 1 to 7 p.m. and features $4 to $6 pints of beer and cider only available in the taproom, food courtesy Bread &Circus food truck and prizes.
Stogies ‘N Hops celebrates Year 1
Stogies ‘N Hops, a bottleshop and tobacco store in Lynnwood, is celebrating its first anniversary with a customer appreciation day from noon to 5 p.m. on June 20 with Deschutes Brewery and Miami Cigar Company. There will be plenty of beer, cigars and birthday cake. Deschutes will feature a number of beers, including 2014 Abyss, 2014 Black Butte XXVI, 2014 Wine Barrel-aged Barleywine, 2015 Wine Barrel-aged Jubel, 2015 Stoic and Pinedrops IPA. Proceeds from the event will go to the Northshore Christian Church kids tutoring program.
Washington Brewers Festival
The Washington Brewers Festival is June 19 through 21 at Marymoor Park in Redmond. The festival features more than 100 Washington breweries pouring over 350 different beers. Tickets are $20 on Friday, and $25 Saturday and Sunday. Admission includes souvenir tasting glass and six tasting tokens.
SipFest in Snoqualmie
Enjoy wine, beer, food and live music at SipFest in Snoqualmie June 26 in downtown Snoqualmie. Sample tastes from 25 Washington wineries, 15 craft breweries and 15 local restaurants, with proceeds going to benefit Encompass, a nonprofit supporting children and families through education and therapy.
