For my next music column, coming out in Monday’s paper, I spoke with Gwenno Saunders, a member of the Pipettes who prefers going by the name Gwenno Pipette in print.

Good stuff, right? So yes, these Brits revive the girl group sound of the 1960s, echoing the near-perfect harmonies of bands like the Shangri-Las and the Ronettes.
Here’s some trivia Saunders shared that probably won’t make the column:
On the music she hated to hear as a kid: “The thing that really used to annoy me was my dad would wake us up with a tin whistle…, some sort of Polish war song or something. It was really annoying. It would actually get us out of bed.”
On her favorite movie: “Do you know what I really love is ‘When the Wind Blows.’ And I saw it again recently and I remembered how sad it was… It’s the same animator as the guy that did ‘The Snowman.’ … It’s such a beautiful film. It really is.”
On what she wears when she’s not in polka dots: “A dress, always. Well, not always, but that’s my favorite thing to wear.”
On her favorite meal: “Steak, medium rare, with chips — fries.”
On beer or liquor: “Liquor always, definitely. … Red wine.”
On her favorite James Bond: “The women always say Sean Connery, so I’ll go with that.”
Info about and tickets for the group’s Nov. 1 show in Seattle are available here.
