The Snowman cometh: Ballet Bellevue is presenting Raymond Brigg’s beautiful and beloved winter story “The Snowman,” about a little boy whose imagination was big enough to carry him on a magical journey.
Performing as animals and little villagers, students from Ballet Bellevue School will share the stage in Bothell with the adult company’s dancers. Young soloists include Julie Ortiz of Monroe as the Fox. Stunning costumes are done by Tina Evans, with winterland scenery created by Northwest designer Bruce Jackson. The story’s leading character will be played by 8-year-old Leo Malkin, and the “Walking in the Air” soprano solo will be sung by Amanda Friemel.
David Upham returns to conduct the Ballet Bellevue Orchestra playing the score of English composer Howard Blake. Ballet Bellevue is America’s only company to present this holiday show with a live orchestra, according to written press material.
Shows for “The Snowman” are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at Northshore Performing Arts Center, 18125 NE 92nd Ave., Bothell. Tickets are $27, $23 and $15 for 25 and under. Call 425-408-7997, 800-992-TIXX or www.npacf.org.
