THEATER

Showing through May 10 is the new Mel Brooks musical “The Producers” based on the 1967 cult film. A down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most notorious flop in history, thereby bilking their backers out of millions of dollars. Except the show is a smash hit! Tickets are $28 general, $25 youth, senior, military.
Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600; www.villagetheatre.org/everett. Showing through May 17 is the tongue-in-cheek musical “Hansel & Gretl & Heidi & Gunter.” Gretl is a single mom living in modern-day Chicago, still suffering the post-traumatic stress of her fairy-tale childhood. When Uncle Hansel shows up, Gretl’s kids (Heidi and Gunter) learn about their complicated family legacy. Tickets are $29-$69.
Phoenix Theatre: 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000; www.tptedmonds.org. Opening May 29 is “Glorious,” a comedy about Florence Foster Jenkins. It’s based on the true story of the astronomical success of the worst singer in the world. Tickets are $25 for adults and $20 for students, seniors, military.
Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. The musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress” — which is based on “The Princess and the Pea” — opens May 22. To prevent her son from marrying, a domineering queen has devised an unsolvable test for potential wives. A princess unlike any other arrives in the kingdom and throws the queen’s plans into upheaval. Tickets are $10-$20.
DANCE
“Crash”: Jacob Jonas The Company and Okaidja Afroso have composed and will perform choreography for their original score 7:30 p.m. May 21 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts, 410 Fourth Ave. N., Edmonds. “Crash” is inspired by the formation and patterns of waves. COMEDY
The Cross Border Live Comedy Show: See Snohomish comedian Kate Carlson Carlsen in the virtual show from 8 to 10 p.m. April 10 via Zoom. The show features five comedians from the U.S. and Canada: In addition to Carlsen, see American Cavin Eggleston, Canadians Desmond Williams and Cindy Rivers, and American host Mycole Brown. Everett Comedy Night: Emory’s on Silver Lake, 11830 19th Ave. SE, Everett, hosts a second-Sunday monthly comedy night. Tickets are $10. All ages.
