THEATER
Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org; 425-774-9600. “Unnecessary Farce” is showing June 12-28. In a cheap motel room, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s being videotaped, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes. Tickets are $28 adults, $25 students, seniors, military.
Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600; www.villagetheatre.org/everett. Performances of the tongue-in-cheek musical “Hansel & Gretl & Heidi & Gunter” have been suspended through May. Gretl is a single mom living in modern-day Chicago, still suffering the post-traumatic stress of her fairy-tale childhood. When Uncle Hansel shows up, Gretl’s kids (Heidi and Gunter) learn about their complicated family legacy. Tickets are $29-$69. The 2020-2021 season includes: “Mama Mia!,” “Hello, Dolly!,” “Deathtrap,” “Making Tracks” and “Ain’t Misbehavin’.” Season tickets for all five shows are $130-$390.
Phoenix Theatre: 9673 Firdale Ave., Edmonds; 206-533-2000; www.tptedmonds.org. Phoenix Theatre’s 2020-2021 season includes “The Miser,” “Inspecting Carol,” “37 Postcards,” “Mama Won’t Fly” and “Skin Flick.” Season tickets for all five performances are $110 for adults and $98 for seniors, students and military.
Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. The musical comedy “Once Upon a Mattress” — which is based on “The Princess and the Pea” — is suspended through May. To prevent her son from marrying, a domineering queen has devised an unsolvable test for potential wives. A princess unlike any other arrives in the kingdom and throws the queen’s plans into upheaval. Tickets are $10-$20. Red Curtain’s 2020-2021 season includes “The Odd Couple,” “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” “Miracle on 34th Street,” “She Kills Monsters,” “As You Like It,” “The Rememberer” and “Into the Woods.” Season tickets for all seven shows are $125 for adults or $105 for seniors, students and military.
COMEDY
Everett Comedy Night: Emory’s on Silver Lake, 11830 19th Ave. SE, Everett, hosts a second-Sunday monthly comedy night. Tickets are $10. All ages. Comedy Garage: A weekly comedy showcase and open mic held Mondays at Tony V’s Garage, 1716 Hewitt Ave., Everett. Features regional comedians working out their longer sets and local amateurs trying new material. The headliner for the June 1 show has yet to be announced. No cover. All ages. Chuckles on the Pilchuck: Collector’s Choice Restaurant, 215 Cypress Ave., Snohomish, hosts a third-Tuesday monthly comedy show showcasing the talents of Northwest comedians. A Night of Improv: Exit 192 Improv will perform improvisational comedy 8 p.m. July 10 at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave., Everett.
