An irreverent, fast-paced romp through the Bard’s plays, “The Complete Works of William Shakepeare,” is showing 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19. The Reduced Shakespeare Co. performs all 37 plays (abridged, revised) in 97 minutes. Tickets are $42 for adults, $35 for seniors and military, and $15 for youth.
Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school); 360-322-7402; redcurtainfoundation.org. Staging Oct. 18 to Nov. 3, with “Dark of the Moon” an Appalachian folk tale comes to the stage, telling the story of John the Witch Boy and his love for Barbara Allen. The musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” set for Oct. 25 to Nov. 17, follows an eclectic group of middle schoolers as they fight for the title of regional spelling bee champ – and all the glory that comes with it. Tickets are $70 general, $65 senior and $55 youth.
Edmonds Driftwood Players: Wade James Theatre, 950 Main St., Edmonds; www.edmondsdriftwoodplayers.org; 425-774-9600. “A Christmas Story: The Musical,” staging Nov. 29 through Dec. 22 is the musical based on the popular 1983 film. All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a BB gun. Tickets are $28 adults and $25 for seniors, juniors and military.
YOUTH THEATER
“Black Beauty”: 201 Thomas St., Seattle; 206-441-3322; www.sct.org. Mukilteo’s own Keagan Estes stars in Seattle Children’s Theatre’s production, showing through Oct. 27. Based on the beloved children’s book by Anna Sewell, the play tells the life story of a beautiful horse, from his days as carefree colt, and as a workhorse in the busy streets of London, before his graceful retirement in a country pasture.
