Driftwood’s annual Festival of Shorts is 8 p.m. July 7-8 and 2 p.m. July 8-9. Call for tickets. Eight short plays will be performed. Playwrights are from across the country. The audience helps decide the top play of the festival.

Last Leaf does Shakespeare: Last Leaf Productions’ 19th season bringing the Bard to the parks features performances of the fast and furious “The Comedy Of Errors.” Free local shows (about an hour long) are set for 5 p.m. July 9, Wagner Performing Arts Center rear lawn, Monroe; 6 p.m. July 15, Arlington’s Terrace Park; 2 p.m. July 16, Mukilteo’s 92nd Street Park; 5 p.m. July 16, Monroe’s Wagner PAC rear lawn; 7:30 p.m. July 20, Mukilteo’s Rosehill Community Center; and 4 p.m. Aug. 6, North Cove Park in Lake Stevens. In the play, Antipholus and his sidekick Dromio find themselves in Ephesus, where people from their hometown, Syracuse, are excluded under pain of death. Unbeknowst to them or anybody else, they both have an identical twin already living in Ephesus, by extraordinary coincidence also named Antipholus and Dromio. A hilarious day of mistaken identities and giddy confusion ensues. More information is at www.lastleaf99.org.

Woodinville Repertory Theatre: The classic comedy “Butterflies are Free” is presented through July 9 at Denali Slab &Tile Studio, 16120 Woodinville-Redmond Road NE, Suite 12, Woodinville. For show times and ticket prices, go to www.woodinvillerep.org/tickets.

Red Curtain: The Red Curtain Arts Center, 9315 State Ave., Suite J, Marysville (in the Goodwill shopping center, behind the Everett Community College cosmetology school). Auditions for “The Fantasticks” begin at 6 p.m. July 11. Summer Spectaculathon, an eclectic mix of music, theater and improvisational performances, shows 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays in July. Village Theatre: Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave.; 425-257-8600 or www.villagetheatre.org/everett. The remainder of the Village season includes “Dreamgirls,” July 7-30.

“Last Romance”: Phoenix Theatre, Tim Noah’s Thumbnail Theater and the Snohomish Theater Project offer this comedy by Joe Pietro at 7:30 p.m. July 15 and 22, and at 4 p.m. July 16 and 23. Directed by Eric Lewis, the cast includes Michael McFadden, Susan Connors, Griffin Price, Melanie Calderwood and Sadie Calderwood. The story involves Ralph, a widower, whose daily walk leads him to a second chance at love. Tickets are $15 at the door, Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish, or at wwwbrownpapertickets.com.
