Singer and songwriter Eric Ode engages his young audience with upbeat songs about “Poor Planet Pluto,” “A Pair of Barracuda” and “A Corner of a Cloud.”
These tunes are part of his interactive programs for kids that emphasize music, skits, poetry, props and puppets.
Ode brings his children’s music to town with “Get Back Farmer Mac” at 10 a.m. today and Saturday at Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish. Tickets are $5 at the door.
Ode — pronounced “oh-dee” — is a former elementary teacher of 12 years with a master’s degree in educational technology.
Also performing at Thumbnail Theater this weekend is musician Dana Lyons, who is known for his worldwide smash hit “Cows With Guns.”
“Cows With Guns” was No. 1 for the year on Dr. Demento and topped Seattle’s Top 40 list for 10 months.
Two of Lyons’ songs have been made into illustrated books: “Cows With Guns” and “The Tree,” which was endorsed by Jane Goodall and has forwards by folk singer Pete Seeger and environmentalist Julia Butterfly Hill.
Lyons is about to release his new CD, “Three Legged Coyote.”
Lyons performs at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater, 1211 Fourth St., Snohomish. Tickets are $12 and $10 for students. Go to www.brownpapertickets.com.
