Maureen Dowd, the acerbic, Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist for The New York Times, is putting out a book about one of her favorite targets: President Bush.
“Bushworld: Enter at Your Own Risk” is a collection of her columns about the president, with an introduction written especially for the book. G.P. Putnam’s Sons, an imprint of Penguin Group USA, will publish “Bushworld” this August.
“Every publisher in town has been after her to do a book,” Neil Nyren, the imprint’s publisher and editor-in-chief, said Wednesday. “She is such a brilliant writer. We all read her and we’ve always felt she had such a strong voice.”
Nyren plans a “substantial” first printing for the book, not surprising given the success of other recent works by New York Times columnists, including Paul Krugman’s “The Great Unraveling” and Thomas Friedman’s “Longitudes and Attitudes.”
“They’re certainly useful comparisons as far as the marketplace goes,” Nyren said.
