Tips for choosing a place to board your pet

With summer in full swing, you may find yourself having to leave your beloved Fido at home while you head off for holiday merriment.

If you don’t have an amenable neighbor or an unemployed nephew looking for a summer “job,” you will have to find a place to board this member of your family.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when looking for a suitable place.

Cleanliness: An odor-free environment is a good clue to how clean a boarding facility is. Accidents happen, but the overall facility shouldn’t smell bad.

Service: The personnel should be friendly and welcoming.

Cost: The facility should be affordable for the pet owner.

Tour: Ask for a spontaneous tour. A good facility should be able to give you one on the spot.

Don’t forget to leave a number where you can be reached (don’t leave your home phone number when you will be on the road).

Feel free to check in with the kennel.
