If you’re a vegetable gardener and you’re looking for ideas and inspiration, then have we got a treat for you!
The Whidbey Island Nourishes Vegetable Garden Tour, a new event, will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 8, featuring 10 South Whidbey veggie gardens, including the brand-new, hugely successful Good Cheer Garden, a project of the South Whidbey Good Cheer Food Bank. Tourgoers will also be able to see a bountiful place known as Farmer Bob’s garden.
It’s all a fund-raiser for Whidbey Island Nourishes of Langley, also known as WIN, an organization that provides meals for children on non-school days throughout the year.
Buy tickets for $15 at Cultus Bay Nursery, Bayview Farm &Garden, Moonraker Books, and Rob Schouten Gallery. Ages 17 and younger can attend for free.
Afterward, attend a 5 p.m. picnic and auction with live music and dancing. Tickets for the evening event are $75 or $125 for a couple and include admission to the tour.
