One of the stately ships that ply the waters of the Puget Sound each summer will be docked at Anthony’s Homeport restaurant in Everett from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday for free tours.
The Hawaiian Chieftain, a topsail ketch, is a replica of the merchant vessels at the turn of the 19th century. Its hull and rigging are similar to the Spanish ships that explored the region in the late 18th century.
Crew members in period costumes will give visitors the history and current mission of the Chieftain and the Lady Washington, which were purchased in 2004 by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority. The ships visit ports along the West Coast for tours and trips, and also are sail training and educational vessels.
A ticket is not required for the afternoon tour, but a $3 donation per person is appreciated. Anthony’s Homeport is at 1726 W. Marine View Drive, Everett.
