Waterfalls can be impressive in autumn, and there are more than a few scenic ones easily accessed from U.S. 2.
Sign up with Everett Parks and Recreation for a tour and short hikes to Alpine, Eagle, Scenic and Deception falls.
The hikes to each of the falls are short, but occasionally rough, totalling about four miles. The elevation gain is about 200 feet.
The parks department recommends talking to them before the hike if you have any questions about the difficulty.
The trip, led by Andy Boos, departs at 8 a.m. Nov. 2 from the recreation office in Forest Park.
Fees, transportation included, are $36 for adults and $28 for youths 8 to 17 with a participating adult. Estimated return to Forest Park is 4:30 p.m.
