Back in the fall of 2009, we enjoyed excellent pub grub at Train Wreck, a bar in downtown Burlington. A return visit for lunch on Saturday confirmed that the place remains on track.
Train Wreck does things a lot better than you’d have a right to expect at a small-town tavern. The kitchen uses quality ingredients, such as rolls from the nearby Breadfarm bakery. Furnishings have been upgraded since our last visit. The folding tables we sat at in 2009 have been replaced, in part, with booths made from split logs. The atmosphere is friendly and not divey.
One quibble: The beer list is too short. There is a full bar, however.
Train Wreck is located at 427 E. Fairhaven Ave., Burlington. It’s open for lunch and dinner every day, and for breakfast on weekends.
