Ron Geigle: The author’s new novel “The Woods” is set during the waning years of the Great Depression in the Cascades, Everett and Bellingham. Geigle, who grew up in Snohomish County, is set to talk about the book at 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Village Books, 1200 11th St., Bellingham. During his talk, Geigle plans to use photos by Darius Kinsey of the old growth forests and logging in the Cascades.

Betsy Case: The author of “Trailblazers: The Women of The Boeing Company” will read from and sign copies of her book from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at J. Matheson Gifts, Kitchen and Gourmet, 2615 Colby Ave. Everett. Call 425-258-2287 or go to www.J.Matheson.com.

Walt Polzin: The author of “Badman,” a Western novel released this year, is a graduate of Edmonds High School and Everett Community College. Most book stores carry the book, as does Amazon, Polzin says. The book is about John Williams, an outlaw with no regrets. He builds a gang that terrorizes Wyoming in the late 1800s.

Margaret Meps Shulte: The Camano Island author released a new book this year, “Strangers Have the Best Candy,” which encourages people to reach out to strangers. Shulte talks about how set aside fear and judgment in order to meet new people, all in a humorous presentation. More information is at 1meps.com.

Illustrator Margy Gates and authors Reanne Hemingway and Don Douglass: A new book out from these Anacortes folks “Exploring the Salish Sea” explores the beautiful and diverse ecosystem of the Salish Sea, which includes Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Georgia Strait.
