Grist is having a baby.
That’s right. Grist, a nonprofit Seattle-based environmental news and commentary Web site founded in 1999, is — and I quote — “pleased to announce that we are the proud parents of a baby, a crapless, non-crying, 176-page baby named ‘Wake Up and Smell the Planet.’”
Grist’s “Nonpompous, Nonpreachy Grist Guide to Greening Your Day” is “not a guide about guilt, but about making little choices throughout the day that improve the planet.” It’s also printed on 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
Yay.
You can order now from Amazon or the Mountaineers, the publisher, to help you decide “what to eat, what to wear, how to dispose of dog poop or diapers, how to travel from point A to point B, where to have a post-work cocktail, and on and on.”
If you want to really celebrate the arrival of this eco-handbook, you can attend a release party at The Last Supper Club from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 17, featuring “organic food from PCC, drinks from Square One Organic Vodka and New Belgium Brewery, the sparkling company of Grist’s writers, behind-the-scenes staffers and fellow readers, and tasty morsels of eco-advice from the funniest green Web site this side of the viaduct.”
Tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. Click here for details. Space is limited.
