Did you see this? Jacksonville University reserve tailback Cecil Coltrane was suspended from school and tossed from the team because his desire to be the starter was so great he planted 20 grams of marijuana in the starter’s dorm room.
Initially, starting tailback Rudell Small was suspended after police received a tip and discovered the pot in his room. Small was arrested, suspended from school and did not play in last Saturday’s game against Davidson.
Small insisted he was innocent all along. The coaching staff was horrified, believing that Small wasn’t the kind of kid to mess around with the stuff. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office investigated and finally questioned Coltrane, who admitted planting the pot in Small’s room.
This, shortly after former North Colorado punter Mitch Cozad was sentenced to seven years in prison for stabbing a rival in an attempt to take over the starter’s role.
Gotta wonder what’s happening here. Are we raising our kids to never accept anything but the top spot? Are we putting too much pressure on our children?
Unreal.
