Today is Learn to Fly Day across the nation, and three local airports are offering events to send you soaring.
Paine Field Aviation Day begins with the firefighters’ 5K run at 8 a.m., followed by a pancake breakfast at 9 a.m., which is $5 a person.
If you’re reading this too late for pancakes, you can still take part in free activities that continue until 3:30 p.m. at the south ramp near the Flying Heritage Collection: free flights for ages 8 to 17, warbird flyovers, live music, and the Taste of Mukilteo and Kiwanis barbecue. Taste tickets are $1, with a minimum purchase of $5.
Call 425-353-2110, ext. 5, or go to www.wpaflys.org.
Out of the Blue Aviation offers an open house, free seminars and all the information you need to take up flying, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Arlington Airport, 18306 59th Drive NE, Arlington; 360-474-1060.
Snohomish Flying Service hosts two seminars at Harvey Field at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Experienced pilots will talk about what it takes to fly helicopters and airplanes.
