With subtle pushing and pulling of water that captures brush strokes and a variety of color, watercolor artist John Ringen will show his work in an exhibit called “Ringen Paints!” that will celebrate the painter who is also known as a pioneer of the classic Northwest watercolor style.
The show runs through Nov. 20 at Kaewyn Gallery, 10101 Main St., Bothell.
More than 50 watercolors will be shown ranging from new to old, “but it’s the best of the old,” Ringen said.
“This is the only thing I’ve ever been able to do semi-successfully,” he said.
Ringen has served as a teacher around the greater Seattle area. He has taught high school English, painting to college students, given workshops, private lessons and group demonstrations. He received the Purchase Award from the Northwest Watercolor Society and has been invited to show his work at the Frye Museum and the Seattle Art Museum.
