While humans may have their own Valentine’s Day plans, Seattle Aquarium’s staff has been organizing an Octopus Blind Date.
At noon Sunday, Valentine-themed decorations and romantic music will surround the octopus exhibit to see if two giant octopuses inside will take an interest in each other. The date is part of the Aquarium’s Octopus Week, running Saturday through Feb. 20.
During the rest of Octopus Week, divers will swim with an octopus at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Feb. 19 in the “Windows on Washington” area, and feedings and keeper talks will take place several times daily.
At noon Feb. 20, guests can watch a live video feed of one octopus being relocated to a new home under the aquarium’s pier.
The aquarium, open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, is at 1483 Alaskan Way, Seattle.
Admission is $17 for ages 13 and older, $11 for ages 4 to 12, and free for ages 3 and under. Find more details by calling 206-386-4320 or visiting www.seattleaquarium.org.
