Weekend rains made for successful hunting

A four-session Fly-Tying Class is scheduled for Nov. 3, 10, 17 and Dec. 1 at Greg’s Custom Fishing Rods in Lake Stevens (12405 20th St. NE). Sessions are from 7-9 p.m. The class fee is $50. Preregistration is required. For more information, call 425-335-1391.

* The 13th annual Everett Bayside Marine and Bayside Outboards Fishing Derby and Holiday Food Drive is scheduled for Nov. 6-7. Tickets are $30. Donations of five or more non-perishable food items drop the ticket price to $25. There also is a $5 senior-citizen discount. Ticket sales end at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5. Tickets can be purchased at Everett Bayside Marine (1001 14th St. Everett) or Bayside Outboards (1230 W. Marine View Drive, Everett). For more information, call 425-252-3088.

* A free Steelhead Fishing Seminar is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Oct. 23 at West Marine in Everett (1716 West Marine View Drive). The seminar will be presented by Nick Kester of All Star Charters.

* A meeting of the Whidbey Island Fly-Fishing Club is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Race Road Fire House in Coupeville (1164 Race Road). The social hour starts at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mike Benbow, who will discuss fishing the Grande Ronde, one of Washington’s premier steelhead rivers.
