Whidbey Island Winery’s 2006 syrah received a platinum medal at the WinePress Northwest annual “Best of the Best” competition.
The syrah was produced at Greg and Elizabeth Osenbach’s winery in Langley, from grapes grown in the Yakima Valley. It earlier won a gold at the Seattle Wine Awards.
“Aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spices and a hint of classic earthiness, followed by a palate filled with elegant blueberries and blackberries … all backed with gentle tannins and just-right acidity,” said Andy Perdue, editor-in-chief of WinePress Northwest.
