Without giving too much away, the new CBS comedy “How I Met Your Mother” doesn’t exactly promise to show viewers how the protagonist met the mother of his children, or whether we’ll ever get to meet this mother, ourselves.
It was cause for some consternation on the part of critics Tuesday who were hellbent on getting an answer to whether we’ll ever see this woman, whether we’ll get a straight answer, whether we’ll have any closure.
Stars Neal Patrick Harris (“Doogie Howser, M.D.”) and Alyson Hannigan (“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “American Pie”) tried to nip the growing controversy in the bud:
Harris: I think it’s interesting that you guys are so into who is actually the mother. … I don’t think it has to be some question (and) answer thing. … I don’t see that there’s a need for an answer by the end of episode 13.
Hannigan: Yeah. You never found out who the boss really was on ‘Who’s the Boss?’”
