Everett contractor Darryl Stump credits his wife, Judy, for cementing his approach to business early in his career: “She told me, ‘When people call, you call them back. If you have an appointment with someone, you show up early,’” Darryl says with a chuckle.
Judy was right, and her advice has been instrumental to the success of Darryl’s JHB Construction. (And yes, the “J” in JHB stands for Judy!)
“We’ve had close to 4,000 customers over our 25 years, including many who’ve done multiple projects with us, and we’ve built that business by a commitment to quality and customer service,” Darryl says. “Clients come to us because of our reputation and word-of-mouth advertising,”
Serving the Puget Sound area for 25 years, the JHB team has the knowledge and experience to tackle everything from the smallest powder room to a full custom home. And if you simply need a new light installed or an electrical panel upgrade, their electrical team can do that, too!
“There isn’t much we haven’t done, though we have specialized in kitchen and bathroom remodels,” Darryl notes.
Initially focusing on the South Everett area and now moving further north, Darryl’s aim from the start was to serve his customers and his 12 employees, with a personal and business philosophy guided by faith, he says.
“I’ve patterned it after Nordstroms – the customer is always right, no matter what – and I want the company to be successful for my employees. Some have been with me for 20 years,” he explains. “The Lord has taken care of the company – I don’t need anything, but I want to do it for my employees.”
With a dozen skilled tradespeople currently on staff, and a growing team of four electricians, Darryl also relies on a trusted network of subcontractors for specialized applications, like foundations and roofs.
After all, both colleagues and clients benefit from working with an established company whose reputation is built on trust and quality in all aspects of their work.
“Our employees’ knowledge and commitment to quality is what sets JHB apart from other construction companies,” Darryl says, noting that while JHB is a general contractor, they do the majority of the work themselves, passing the resulting savings to customers.
Growth opportunities
As Daryl and his team look forward to what’s next for JHB Construction, they are looking to grow, and in particular are looking for certified electricians. For more details, or to learn how the JHB team can help bring your renovation or construction project to life, visit jhbconstruction.com or call
