What’s the value of a great smile? For those who’ve experienced the challenge and discomfort of missing teeth or ill-fitting dentures, the answer is easy: it’s priceless.
A group of Snohomish County oral surgeons and a prosthodontist have teamed up to give two deserving locals the gift of a new smile, recognizing the difference a healthy, happy smile can make, whether it’s giving someone the confidence to get a new job or go back to school, or simply to help them feel better about themselves.
Hosted by Om3 Oral Maxillofacial and Implant Surgery, the offices of Drs. Peter Kim, Serv Wahan, Daniel Brady, Benjamin Noblitt and Dustin Altmann, and prosthodontist Dr. Kyle Schmidt, with Schmidt Advanced Dentistry, the Smile Makeover promotion will provide either an upper or lower set of dental implants to someone who has lost their own teeth.
“Every day I see someone who’s lost their teeth or has ill-fitting dentures and can’t eat properly. It’s so satisfying when I put their teeth in place and they’re so happy, they’re crying,” Dr. Schmidt says.
Dental implants are a permanent alternative to dentures, with the tooth “root” actually a surgically implanted titanium post. Once the bone heals and grows around the dental implant, creating a strong foundation, it’s topped with a new, artificial replacement tooth, or crown. In many cases a temporary replacement tooth can be attached to the implant immediately after it’s placed.
There’s no doubt the results are life-changing.
“Patients will tell me, ‘I never smile,’” Dr. Wahan says, noting that beyond the importance of being able to eat nutritious, enjoyable foods, “there’s so much more to it. They’ll say, ‘I’m happy, and now I can show people I’m happy.’”
The Smile Makeover includes:
- all exam appointments with OM3 Surgery and Dr. Kyle Schmidt, and all follow-up appointments for either an upper or lower set of dental imlpants
- diagnostic radiographs, including CBCT scans
- implant placement surgery, including anesthesia
- interim and final prosthetics – the teeth that are screwed into the dental implants
The only thing not included are any prescriptions the patient may need before or after surgery.
“There are a lot of people out there who are struggling, who can’t afford this treatment, and don’t have the confidence to be out in society,” says Dr. Kim. “We’re excited to give back to our community, and to give someone their smile again.”
