Women empowering women: 2 beauty entrepreneurs set up shop at Everett hub

Skincare and nail specialists find supportive atmosphere at Executive Beauty Suites

About a year and a half after getting her start at a day spa, Viri Guillen decided it was time to start her own skincare business.

“I wanted control over the products and the clientele that I brought in, and I wanted to create a safe space for women of all ages and ethnicities,” she says.

She toured a number of locations in the area before entrepreneur and life coach Laycee Gwyther recruited her to Executive Beauty Suites in Everett. While other property owners barely had answers to Viri’s questions, Laycee welcomed her with a folder of information about the rental opportunity.

“Laycee and Josh are really invested in the growth of every business. They offer free classes on things like taxes, how to minimize expenses and how to market your products without sounding too ‘salesy.’ I’ve never heard of a landlord doing that sort of thing!” says Viri, who is a Master Esthetician, certified face reality acne expert, and has been running Glowing Skin Esthetics at Executive Beauty Suites for over a year.

Viri Guillen is a Master Esthetician and certified face reality acne expert. She offers a wide range of services Glowing Skin Esthetics, including Brow Laminations, Lash Lifts, and Advanced facials such as Microneedling and chemical peels.

Glowing Skin Esthetics is now exactly the space that Viri dreamed of when she was working at the day spa. It’s a welcoming place offering a wide range of services including Brow Laminations, Lash Lifts, Advanced facials such as Microneedling and chemical peels.

“I love the science behind skincare, and educating my clients on home care. I work with all skin types, all ages and all genders, and if my clients have a budget I’m able to explain which products are essential, and which they can skip.”

Double-certified nail boutique

When Crystal Smead moved The Glitterbox Nail Studio into Executive Beauty Suites, her business was already well established. That means she hasn’t attended the classes tailored to new business owners, but she’s still excited about the classroom space.

“Should I ever want to expand my business and offer classes to other nail technicians, I can easily offer them in the classroom upstairs. It’s just one more option to bring in income. And it’s great to have other experienced business owners in the building to bounce ideas off,” she says.

Crystal prides herself on keeping a clean, dust-free work space, not just because it’s professional, but also because it improves the work she does. One of the things that attracted her to Executive Beauty Suites was the high standards and quality maintenance of the building.

“A significant number of my clients are severe nail biters working to restore their health, so it’s important to give them a perfect manicure with no bubbles, no bumps and no pieces they’d fuss with. I invested in top-of-the-line dust extraction, and I make sure to get every imperfection out of that nail before I send clients home.”

Crystal is an Akzentz-certified hard gel specialist who offers hard gel manicures on natural nails in a one-on-one setting. She says she was tired of leaving other nail salons unsatisfied, either with injured hands or mistakes she had to file herself. So she studied with trusted, women-owned Akzentz (she’s actually double-certified), and offers her clients comfortable, restorative, high quality manicures from her Executive Beauty Suite.
