ARLINGTON — A man died early Wednesday morning in a recreational vehicle fire near Arlington.
Around 1:50 a.m., witnesses called 911 to report a fire at the Smokey Point RV Park in the 17500 block of Smokey Point Boulevard, said North County Fire Marshal Steve Goforth. They reported someone was inside screaming for help. A neighbor tried to retrieve the person, but the fire was too strong.
When firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to trees and the surrounding RVs. After the fire was knocked down, they found the man, who was in his 60s, inside the trailer, Goforth said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the deceased.
One other resident of the RV park was displaced by the fire, so the Red Cross will be assisting them, the fire marshal said.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation, but early indications suggest it was an accident, Goforth said.
