OAK HARBOR — An Oak Harbor man was taken by helicopter to a Seattle hospital Wednesday after the dirt bike he was on crashed into a parked car north of Oak Harbor.
The crash happened about 6:30 p.m. on Childrens Avenue near Nogaterra Way. An Oak Harbor man, 21, was driving a Yamaha dirt bike when he lost control and slammed into a parked Chevy Camaro, according to the Washington State Patrol.
His passenger, 24, was seriously injured in the crash. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
The motorcycle driver was booked into the Island County Jail for investigation of vehicular assault. State Patrol troopers are investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
