A Duvall man charged in a fatal shooting at a Monroe tavern made a brief appearance in Snohomish County Superior Court Friday, and bail was set at $1 million.
Jesus Jose Garcia-Pena, 30, will be arraigned Monday when an interpreter is available.
He is charged with first-degree murder and second-degree assault in a barrage of gunfire at the Mi Barra tavern Aug. 31.
His two brothers, Ventura Garcia-Pena and Jose Garcia-Pena, also are in jail on murder charges. They were arrested shortly after the melee, but Jesus Garcia-Pena was arrested Sept. 4 in Bakersfield, Calif. He was returned to Seattle Thursday by U.S. marshals, where Monroe police took him into custody.
The brothers are accused in the shooting death of Jesus Garcia Ochoa. Police said Jesus Garcia-Pena is suspected of being the gunman.
Prosecutors allege that the brothers and a fourth person confronted the victim. The tavern owner intervened and told the men to leave. Jesus Garcia-Pena then went to a restroom. When he returned, one of his brothers handed him a gun, and he allegedly opened fire, spraying the tavern, according to court papers.
The fourth unidentified man also is being sought, police said.
