EVERETT — Investigators believe a candle sparked a house fire Wednesday night in the 2200 block of Cedar Street in Everett.
Everett fire crews got the call just after 11 p.m., city spokeswoman Kate Reardon said. They arrived to find the house filled with smoke.
Eleven people who were in the home escaped without injury. They told fire crews the candle had been knocked over onto a couch and started the fire, Reardon said.
Damage was estimated at $10,000, mostly from smoke.
Officials remind people to keep candles away from flammables and to use sturdy candle holders.
