EVERETT — An 11-year-old boy on a bicycle collided with a minivan Friday and suffered facial and head injuries, said Battalion Chief Ed Oas of the Everett Fire Department.

The accident happened about 2 p.m. in the 1500 block of 63rd Street SE, Oas said. He was taken to Providence Everett Medical Center’s Colby Campus, then to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in serious condition Friday evening.

  • Crashed plane was just a model: An alert citizen dialed 911 Thursday afternoon when he saw a plane dip into the woods about a half-mile east of Dwayne Lanes Dodge, a car dealership at 7800 Evergreen Way.

Firefighters raced to the scene. There, instead of wreckage, they found hobbyists flying model airplanes, said Battalion Chief Ed Oas.

The firefighters canceled the call at about the same time the citizen called back to say that the "plane" wasn’t occupied.
