EVERETT — An Everett clothing store has donated 125 pairs of new shoes to victims of domestic violence staying at the Snohomish County Center for Battered Women.
"What a wonderful Thanksgiving gift to the women and children in our shelter," said Margaret Bruland, the center’s executive director.
"As clients enter the shelter, so often their only possession is what they are wearing. A gift of new shoes may seem insignificant to some, but for those with minimal resources, they are a true blessing," she said.
The shoes were donated by Renee’s Contemporary Clothing and Yaleet Inc., the company that made the shoes. The Naot brand of footwear was dropped off last week.
"I am thrilled to be able to help women in need. Whenever we have an opportunity, we feel like it’s important to give back to the community," store owner Renee Quistorf said.
The Center for Battered Women is a nonprofit organization that has housed more than 300 women and children in the past year at its 15-bed shelter and transitional housing.
"To thank Renee for this wonderful donation seems to be an understatement. The shoes will make a huge difference to our women," Bruland said.
