EVERETT — A 13-year-old boy was shot and wounded Friday near the Casino Lane Apartments along W. Casino Road.
The shooting happened around 12:15 p.m. on the road outside the complex, Everett police officer Aaron Snell said. On Friday afternoon, police were searching for at least two suspects. A police dog track was unsuccessful, and little was known about the suspected shooter, Snell said.
“Several people ran from the location,” Snell said. “… Detectives are working with witnesses and hopefully the victim to see if we can develop suspect identities.”
The boy was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett and is expected to survive. His condition was not made public Friday.
Evidence was being collected at the scene as part of a major crimes unit investigation, Snell said.
“Detectives are looking at all aspects,” he said.
Nearby Horizon Elementary had let out about 1 p.m. Friday for a routine early release day. Children were kept at school for a short time because of the police activity outside the campus, officials said.
It was the second shooting in the neighborhood in recent days. An 18-year-old man was shot at The Bluffs apartments on Sept. 9. The man declined to provide information to investigators. He also was expected to survive.
