EVERETT — Police in Snohomish County arrested 15 people for drunken driving on St. Patrick’s Day.
Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies, Washington State Patrol troopers and police from Brier, Edmonds, Granite Falls, Lynnwood, and Monroe worked Wednesday night to pull drunken and reckless drivers off the road, said Tracy McMillan, a spokeswoman for the Snohomish County DUI and Traffic Safety Task Force.
Police estimate that an average of one of every 11 drivers Wednesday night was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
During the special patrols, police also made arrests for drug crimes, minors in possession of alcohol, speeding and negligent driving, McMillan said.
More patrols are scheduled for the weekend.
