ARLINGTON – A two-alarm blaze destroyed two businesses this morning at the Smokey Point Plaza shopping center.
Crews arrived around 3:20 a.m. and flames already were bursting from the building, Arlington Fire Department spokeswoman Chris Badger said.
One of the businesses was a pawn shop, and firefighters reported hearing ammunition going off due to the heat of the fire, she said.
No injuries were reported.
It took crews about an hour to put out the fire, limiting damage to four businesses; two were ruined, Badger said.
Fire investigators from the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office and Arlington police are trying to determine what sparked the blaze.
Crews from Arlington, Marysville, Snohomish County Fire District 19 and North County Fire &EMS worked to extinguish the fire.
