MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — A woman was killed and her husband died Thursday in an apparent murder-suicide, according to Mountlake Terrace police.
On Thursday afternoon, police received a call that a man may have died by suicide in a Mountlake Terrace home. When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Robert Hay, 65, and Shaunie Hay, 63, in the bedroom.
The man had a gun in his hand, according to police. Initially, officers could not find any sign of trauma on the woman, but they later found she had suffered a gunshot to the neck.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the identities of the deceased.
Robert Hay died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Shaunie Hay’s manner of death was determined to be homicide.
