Separate single-car crashes near Lake Stevens and Snohomish have left two people dead in the past week.
• Just before 6:30 p.m. on May 27, a 67-year-old man was driving west on Westwick Road east of Snohomish when he drifted off the road and crashed into a tree, said Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Courtney O’Keefe. The man was the only person in the car when it crashed near the 15300 block.
He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police continued to investigate the cause of the crash Wednesday. A medical incident may have been a factor, O’Keefe said.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office did not publicly identify the man out of respect for his family.
• Around 2:15 p.m. on Monday, a 79-year-old man was driving in the 10100 block of 84th Avenue Northeast, west of Lake Stevens, when he drifted off the road and into a cement pillar, O’Keefe said. His female passenger, 78-year-old Lake Stevens resident Sharon Anderson, died on scene.
The man was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett with serious injuries.
Police were still investigating this crash, too, but there were no signs of impairment, O’Keefe said.
