EVERETT — Fires caused extensive damage to homes near Lynnwood and Silver Lake on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Neither blaze was believed to have been sparked by fireworks.
Both fell within the boundaries of Snohomish County Fire District 1, which covers much of the south end of the county.
Shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, a fire that started in the garage reached the attic of a home in the 10700 block of 23rd Drive SE near Silver Lake. Three adults and a child were able to get out safely, fire district spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said.
The cause of the fire had not been determined Thursday afternoon. It caused an estimated $25,000 damage.
Shortly before 5 a.m. Thursday, a fire caused an estimated $75,000 damage to a vacant house in the 20800 block of Third Avenue W, in the Hilltop neighborhood east of Lynnwood.
Firefighters could see flames inside when they arrived.
The fire appears to have been set intentionally, Hynes said.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office is looking for people who might have information about the fire to call 425-388-3557.
