MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — Police are investigating what triggered a crash Wednesday evening on 220th Street SW that sent two people to a Seattle hospital.
Around 6:30 p.m., a green Pontiac Firebird driven by an Edmonds man, 52, veered into oncoming traffic at 66th Avenue W. and scraped between two vehicles, Mountlake Terrace police Sgt. Doug Hansen said.
Despite causing the damage, the Firebird continued west on 220th, Hansen said. The car stopped when it smashed into a bus shelter at the intersection with 70th Avenue W. and took out a power pole.
The man and his passenger, an Everett woman, 24, were rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The woman suffered injuries that may be life threatening; the man was seriously hurt, Hansen said.
Detectives closed 220th while they collected evidence.
