OLYMPIA — The two boards that manage higher education in Washington state are meeting together this week in Lakewood.
The Higher Education Coordinating Board, which focuses on four-year universities, and the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, planned to meet today to discuss the future of higher education in Washington.
HEC Board spokesman Gary Larson says the Legislature gave the two boards a mission. They have been asked to create a system design plan by late December. The plan will chart the course of higher education to 2030 and beyond.
The two groups have also been asked by the Legislature to consider changes in the state’s financial aid programs for college students.
