EVERETT — Two Washington State Patrol troopers walked away from separate traffic collisions in Snohomish County on Friday.
Trooper Lance Ramsay, 47, was driving north on I-405 north of Bothell late Friday afternoon when he saw an Acura RDX travel onto the highway’s left shoulder and bounce along the guardrail.
He pulled behind the compact SUV and turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights. The silver Acura did not stop.
To keep the SUV from causing an accident, Ramsay pulled ahead of it and let it hit his vehicle at low speed.
The driver, a 60-year-old woman from Bothell, had been incapacitated by a medical emergency. She did not suffer injuries in the collision. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where she was treated for the medical condition. She was alert and talking later Friday night, according to WSP.
Ramsay, a Marysville resident, went to EvergreenHealth Medical Center in Kirkland for minor injuries.
Early Friday evening, Trooper Michael Hilt, 25, was driving southbound on Highway 525. At the exit for I-5, he pulled into the triangle between Highway 525 and the off ramp, a space called the “gore point.”
A silver Dodge Ram pickup swiped the driver’s side of the trooper’s Ford Explorer.
The driver, a 45-year-old Everett resident, was arrested and booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Neither one was injured in the collision.
