FEDERAL WAY — Two Federal Way middle school students accused of dosing a teacher’s coffee with a substance known to induce vomiting have been expelled.
The Sequoyah Middle School teacher became ill after taking a sip of her coffee during Monday’s first period. Before she was rushed to a hospital, she told administrators she had seen kids lingering at her desk.
Federal Way School District spokeswoman Diane Turner says administrators talked to the students, who admitted dosing the coffee with ipecac.
Turner says the two students were immediately expelled, then arrested. The district has not released their names.
School officials told KOMO-TV the teacher has been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
