VANCOUVER, Wash. — Police say two Vancouver women died when a pickup truck crashed into a tree and light pole early Saturday in Vancouver.
The driver, 32-year-old Julie E. Deming, died at the scene and the passenger, 21-year-old Brittney K. Deter, later died at a hospital.
Police suspect excessive speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The Columbian reported that a drunken driving suspect is blamed for a five-car crash Sunday night that injured four people.
The Washington State Patrol said the 18-year-old driver of a pickup truck was fleeing a trooper on I-5 at nearly 100 mph when he failed to make a turn and was involved in three collisions involving four other vehicles. The 18-year-old and three other people were taken to hospitals.
The 18-year-old was arrested on multiple charges.
