MOUNT VERNON — Two people were wounded in shootout in Mount Vernon.
Police say shots were fired Monday night between a group of four or five people standing on a sidewalk and the occupants of a car driving by.
Police say the driver fired first. At least two people on the sidewalk returned fire.
Officers found the car and arrested a 16-year-old for investigation of drive-by shooting.
Two passengers in the car were hit. A 19-year-old man wounded in the shoulder was treated at Skagit Valley Hospital. A 16-year-old girl had minor cuts from broken glass.
