SPOKANE — The city of Spokane will pay about $22,000 to convicted police officer Karl F. Thompson who resigned last week before he could have been fired.
KXLY reported the money is owed to Thompson for accumulated sick leave, vacation days and compensatory time.
The 64-year-old Thompson was convicted Nov. 2 in federal court of using excessive force and lying to investigators following the fatal beating of 36-year-old Otto Zehm five years ago.
Thompson is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 27.
