The search continues for a home for Treasure the black lab, and for the person who severely burned her.
Treasure was found wandering west of Lake Stevens Aug. 20 with chemical burns covering half her body. A corrosive chemical was apparently poured or thrown on the dog’s back, one of the worst cases of animal abuse Three Rivers Rescue director Kim Howard has ever seen.
She and Treasure will come back to Snohomish County next week to put up posters advertising a $2,500 reward being offered by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who hurt Treasure, Howard said.
Treasure was taken in by Three Rivers Rescue in Snoqualmie after spending a night at the Everett Animal Shelter. She’s staying with a foster family in Seattle but needs a permanent home, Howard said.
More than a dozen people called offering to adopt Treasure after her injuries were reported last week, but Three Rivers is still searching for a home that meets her needs.
“We’re conducting phone interviews to find just the right home for her,” Howard said. “We don’t want her to be in the same situation a year from now because the novelty wore off.”
